And We're Back!

Well, we survived our trip to Utah last week. Everything went much better than I anticipated... the plane trip, the sleeping situation, and so on. Ben was a perfect little gentleman on the airplane... shocker, I know! Mo was a champion sleeping in a big bed for the first time ever... who knew it would be so easy? And as far as the trip itself, I already knew that was going to be a blast.

The Utah outdoors + Family + Friends = Good Times.

As soon as we arrived, John had to teach Ben what grass is really supposed to feel like (opposed to our Texas weeds for a lawn)...
Then we did some exploring around the beautiful town of Midway (where John and I lived the first 6 months of our marriage before I converted him to a Texan!)...
If there's water around, Ben can't resist. Especially if it's crystal clear and cool mountain water...
Mo followed suit with daddy's help...
But, he found it a little too cold for his liking...I guess he prefers the more bath-like temperatures of Texas waters. He did enjoy feeding/chasing the ducks, something more familiar with home...After our wilderness adventures, we headed down to Highland for a Sunday evening BBQ at John's sister's house. The food was delish, and the company even better...
We got to meet 2 new cousins for the very first time! Little Lucy (above) who belongs to Christy, John's sister, and Miss Emma (below) who belongs to John's brother, Mark...
Poor Emma didn't know what she was in for, but she took it all in stride. What can I say... you can take the monkeys out of Texas, but they're still going to be monkeys! Speaking of monkeys, one of the funniest happenings of the night was when Ben got a hold of the hose after dinner and gave everyone a nice shower on the back porch! If only I had gotten a picture of that priceless moment, but we were all running for our lives... little stinker!

More pictures and stories to come!

Famous

Apparently, I'm famous. Okay, so it's just my handwriting, but that's still pretty cool. My sister, Jeni, made my handwriting into a font a while back and then she put it on the web as a free download. So far it's been used in a novel and on TXU Energy's newest ad campaign. This is funny to me because when I first saw it, I immediately thought, "yuck, I hate my handwriting". I guess people like it because I did it in marker. I haven't found the book yet (obviously nothing really famous), but if you're driving around DFW you might see a billboard like one of these...

Or you might see it on a commercial (remember those?) and on their website too...

Is it sad that I'm sort of excited about this? I don't get out much anymore. I owe all my fame and fortune (wait, where's my fortune?) to my big sis... thanks for making my font!

P.S. Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I just haven't felt like blogging for a while. I'm sure our fun trip to UT coming up will cure me of that. I know I'll have lots of pics of the kiddos and stories to share when we get back... get excited!

Sliding into Summer

We had a very slippery, but very fun, Memorial Day at Granny & Pops' house. I think the pictures pretty much speak for themselves (and there are a lot of them!)...

Thanks for such a fun time, Granny & Pops... it was the perfect way to slide into summer!

Party Time!

We finally got to celebrate Mo's birthday this weekend. The theme... CARS!

Everyone had to go through the car wash when they arrived...

Then we fueled up on drinks and pizza - 2 of Mo's favorite things...

Then it was time for presents...

His new tricycle really got him revved up...

Unfortunately, there was an attempted car-jacking when Ben saw Mo's pimped out new ride...

After a little pit-stop in time out and the promise of birthday cake, the party was back on the road...

If there was a Piston Cup awarded for shoving your cake in your mouth the fastest, "Lightning McMattMo" would definitely win...

Happy birthday to our BIG boy (learning how to hold up 2 fingers instead of 1)... slow down already, time is speeding by!

Woohoo, Look Who's Two!

I can't believe my baby is 2 years old already! I've been in love with Matt Mo from day one...
How could you not love that hairy little monkey? Mo is such a sweet heart, my cuddle bug, my true "mama's boy". I swear he just barely turned one...
As much as I want to hold on to the baby stage, I'm loving the little boy Mo is becoming. He's funny, he's a flirt and a charmer - destined to be a heart breaker...sorry girls! His smile melts me and his laugh is infectious. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of the "terrible two's" mixed in there, but you just can't help being smitten by him all the same...
And that mop of blond hair paired with his dark brown eyes just kills me...

We'll have party pics coming soon after we celebrate this weekend. Just had to say how thankful we are to have Matt Mo - he's such a joy!
