Sadie Lady is 2!

Can't believe my baby turned 2 on May 5th! A proper Cinco de Mayo fiesta was in order...

This was my best attempt at a festive cake...the cookie on top is supposed to be a sombrero (just use your imagination).

I had fun decorating with all the bright colors!

The birthday girl loved having everyone's attention and we were so happy to have lots of family there to help celebrate.

She got all kinds of fun, girly presents...

There's no such thing as too many accessories according to this little lady...

I had no idea she would LOVE the pinata so much, but it was a big HIT...ha, ha!

We just love our little Sadie lady! I can't imagine life without her. She brings so much joy and happiness to our home. I wish I could freeze time for a while because this is such a fun age. She definitely has her "terrible 2" moments, but overall it's just plain fun to see her learn new things and watch her sweet personality shine. Happy birthday baby big girl!

April Highlights

Here are the highlights from April:

We celebrated Easter! First at Matt Mo's Preschool with an egg hunt...

Sadie found a few eggs too, but was much more interested in the cupcakes...
Yum!

There was more celebrating Easter morning when the kids got their baskets full of goodies...

After I managed to pry them away from all their goodies, it was time to get ready for church...

They sure did look cute, if I do say so myself!

We also got the exciting confirmation that baby #4 is a GIRL...yipee!

April in Texas also means time for bluebonnet photos. The kids were not being super cooperative (surprise, surprise) but I managed to get a few keepers...

Miss Sadie also got her first "real" hair cut...
Such a cutie pie!

Finally, at the end of the month, we decided to take a quick weekend road trip to Arkansas. The kids had a blast exploring and swimming!

John rented a boat one afternoon to take the boys fishing while Sadie I napped...

The boys couldn't wait to go swimming - it was the first thing on their mind when they woke up in the morning...

We all enjoyed our breakfast for dinner at Cracker Barrel...

Everyone's favorite part of the trip was the little beach area on DeGray Lake. We had it all to ourselves for most of the day and the kids were happy and entertained for hours...priceless!

And that was our April!

March Highlights

Apparently I've gotten on the "blog every 3 months" schedule. So... lots of catching up to do once again! Here's a quick recap of what happened in March...

We got some gorgeous weather and spent lots of time at the park...Sadie was in heaven!

All of the 1st grade classes at Ben's school put on a musical performance all about the ocean...

It was also Open House at Ben's school that month. It was so fun to see all the great things he's been working on. He's learned so much this year and is a great student!

Ben with his teacher, Mrs. Teague...

Sadie starting talking a lot more and copying what we would say... so much fun!

She's one busy girl! Always sneaking into my purse for candy or lipstick...

Always has to be accessorized (even if her glasses are upside down and her shoes on the wrong feet)...

She became obsessed with being in the backyard - she loves to jump on the trampoline!

Matt Mo's Pre-K class went on a field trip to see Disney on Ice. Granny was nice enough to watch Sadie so Mo and I could have a special day together - he loved the show (and the undivided attention)!

He even got to sit by his best buds Luke and Sammy...

At the end of the month, Ben was recognized at a school assembly for his excellence in math...he must take after his mom...wink, wink.

And that was March in a nutshell!

Update: The last 3 months

Wow. What a bad, bad blogger I've been. A full 3 months with not so much as a peep. In my defense, I tried really hard to get a Christmas post together, but all I really had was video footage and I just couldn't muster up any patience for the editing process (and no one wants to see all 10 minutes of my kids opening presents, trust me). And then there's the matter of this little situation that's had me in a fog for a few months...

So, I'm almost 18 weeks now and finally starting to feel that 2nd trimester high. Two more weeks and we'll get to see that little nugget again, only much bigger and more human-looking...yay! We'll find out if it really is another boy (as John and the IntelliGender Test have predicted). I'm still holding on to the small hope that they're wrong and Sadie will get a sister after all, but either way, we'll be happy!

As far as the kids go, the boys have started up another season of soccer, which means our Saturdays are CRAZY.  Matt Mo has learned how to ride a 2-wheeler after a few weeks of practice on his balance bike that he got from Santa...

Matt Mo has also done really well at school since the new year began. He's stayed on green (good behavior) every single day - a major improvement from last semester! Ben is also doing well in 1st grade and he's getting really great at spelling and math. He's also a great reader, but getting him to do it is not so fun. He gets intimidated when he sees lots of text on a page, even if he can read the words, so we've been working on that. He has definitely grown socially this school year too. One of his friends in his class this year lives just down the street. They play together after school almost every day and they have a cute little friendship. I can't help but giggle when I find notes like these around the house...

Sadie continues to endear us all with her sweetness... and her sass. She's becoming more independent and starting to use her words a little more. She definitely has "no" down and uses it frequently. I'm not sure how she'll handle mommy with another baby since she is pretty much attached to my hip. I have a feeling it will go something like this...

Should be interesting for sure!

There's so much more to document from the last 3 months, but I'll save it for another day. Maybe I'll even get to that Christmas video, but no promises ;)
